Lung Cancer

I recently had a Pet/CT Imaging... Cannot figure it out. Can You?  Here goes:
When compared to the prior study of 6/7/7 new areas of mild FDG uptake are seen high in the left axilla (SUV Max 2.1) corresponding to underlying normal sized lymph nodes seen on the images. More inferiorly mild FDG uptake is also suggested in the precarinal region to the right of midline, again corresponding to an underlying node seen on the AC CT images. On retrospective review of the prior images of 6/7/7 minimal FDG uptake is seen in the node. On the current images modest FDG uptake is seen in the subcarinal region. This is new compared to the prior study, and on the underlying AC CT images this appears to localize to a small segment of the esophagus.
CONCLUSIONS
1. mINIMAL fdg UPTAKE IN THE THORACIC NODES AS SESCRIBED.  This mild uptake appears new and more intense currently when compared to the prior study of 6/7/7. In the reported interval absence of antitumor therapy since 2005.
Thank You

Hi Patti,
The PET/CT report states that you (who presumable have lung cancer, and have been off therapy since 2005) had this test done twice recently, first on 6/7/7, and once again after that.
While comparing the two reports, the radiologist noticed increased activity in some normal-sized lymph nodes in the thorax. This is reflected by slightly increased SUV (standardized uptake value) on PET. Also, an area of metabolic activity has appeared (in the subcarinal region).
This needs to be co-related clinically, and interpreted in light of other findings.
All the best.
