Lung Nodule

I had a Ct scan done last year that showed a 3mm lung nodule. Never thought anything else about it but for the past week I have been having unexplained chest pain and shortness of breath. I was sent for EKG, Stress Test, and another Ct Scan for pulmonary embosis all came back okay. I was told today by the doctor that the 3mm nodule was still there and this time they noted another that measures 7mm. Should I be worried? I am still having the unexplained pain but it is now only on my right side near the bottom of my ribs. I am only 27 and I have never smoked in my life. The only reason why I am nervous is because I do not know my family history.

Hi,

It would be best if you get a copy of the CT scan reports. Do post out the exact report if that is possible.

Also, it doesnt seem from what you describe that the lymphedema and nodule are connected.

I think you should wait and see what the lung doctor has to say.

Do let us know about your appointment.

Hope this helps.
Good luck.

I had the Ct scan done the first time due to some swollen lymph nodes on my neck. The second on that I had last week was done due to the chest pain that I was having and the doctor wanted to check for an PE. I have an appointment for Feb. 8 with the lung doctor. I only remeber some of the report. The first one just said that I had the nodule and to follow up with another Ct scan in 12 months. This one mentions the same nodulebut  mentions another that they said was on the present film but not mentioned in the report. I have no idea what will happen next. I was also nervous because I do have lymphoedema in my legs that I have had since I was young.( it is not bad and has not gotten any worse) I was wondering if this would have anything to do with the nodules.

Hi,

You need to ask your doctor about a CT guided needle aspiration of the nodule if thats possible or a bronchoscopic biopsy.

A lung nodule is to be followed up periodically unlless symptoms appear or new lesions appear as is the case here.

Is your doctor suggesting an infective pathology?

Why was the CT scan done?

Dont be too worried about not knowing the exact family history.

Discuss all this with your doctor - and if possible get a copy of the CT report and post it out to us.

Do let us know what your doctor tells you.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
