Metastic Disease

I recently had a Chest CT scan.  It showed abnormal appearance of lungs, 2-3 mm pulmonary nodules which are noncalcified, plus right paratracheal, aortopulmonary window, and subcarinal nodes that are prominent. The report read that metastic disease could result in this appearance. What does all that mean? I got the round about from my doctor. If it means cancer why don't they just say so?

Thank you for your comments.
Bob, you were correct. They did not know what it was.
The pulmonary doctor told me he didn't think it was anything but we would do another scan in April to check on it. I recently had a bout of pneumonia and he thinks it was something left over from that.
I figured the PET Scan would be next if they had any worries. Amazing how you have to go thru each procedure,
X-rays,
CT Scan,
Ct Scan w/barium/ioidine
PET Scan,

Why can't they just jump to the one that will have all the answers?
There is where our money is being spent foolishly...

Anyway, thank you both again for your comments.

Ask them to do a PET Scan.  It will show more as far as Metastasis.  Are you having any of the lung cancer symptoms?

Perhaps they are not sure what it is and they do not want to jump to any conclusions or scare you by unnecessarily mentioning the possibility of cancer.
