Need name of a good pulmonary doctor

Need name of a good pulmonary doctor

My husband had a CT of the lung.  They found a 3mm uncalcified solitary nodule (indeterminate).   I
would like to find a great pulmonary specialist and Scripps and or Loma Linda Medical Center in Southern
California, as those are the closest two.   Anybody have an excellent recommendation; I need a name
of a doc.  I get confused reading their resumes.  Would like to hear from someone with personal experience.
(My husband is 59 and has history of second-hand smoke exposure.  Grandmother died of lung cancer late
in life.  He has a chronic unproductive cough.

Hi,
Try to look at hospitals connected to a training University, you could inquire about their house staff for pulmonology, and schedules. You could go to the clinic time and talk with some patients waiting for their consultation.
You could also try to call the American College of Chest Physicians and inquire about members in your area.

Hi
It's my husband, Jim.  They don't know yet what it is.  Might or might not be
malignant.  The primary isn't getting to excited about it though.  They want to
wait 90 days and then do a CT scan to see if it grows.  From what I can tell,
if it is cancer, the chances of recovery are pretty good the earlier you catch it'
before it metastisizes.  They like to be conservative, but I'm not real comfortable
with that.   Scan said it is a 3 mm non-calcified  indeterminate parenchaymal
nodule. They did use contrast on CT.  Yes, getting good docs is very important.
I have a friend who is head of Urology at a Kaiser Hospital. He is going to get
me the name of a doc;  hopefully at Scripps (I live in Southern California).
I'm thinking that, Loma Linda, or UCLA.  There's lots of places but all are
far as I live near Temecula area.  Good Luck!

Thank you for your input.  I will also check the American College of Chest
Physicians, as you suggested.  Hope we can get in someplace quickly.
