Nodules

I had chest CT scan in summer of 08.  At that time, it showed evidence of previous granulomatous disease.  Showed small subpleural nodules in periphery of right and left lung base.  Linear interstitial densities, right middle lobe and lingula.  Some of nodules are calcified.  Majority measure less than 3 mm.    Areas of pleural and parenchymal scarring in right middle lobe and lingula. no additional abnormality noted.  No adenopathy.  Doctor said I need another CT this summer.  I am scared.  Does this CT reading look bad to you?  I am smoker (trying to quit).

Hi Dolly - sorry your going through this.  3 mm is very tiny and you state you have more than one, which is a good sign.  Usually multiple nodules have more of a chance of being benign.  I also have lung cancer in my family and I am a former smoker myself.  If you read my posts you will see that I went through a rough 2 years with tests, biopsies.  Just try to keep a positive attitude, and I wish you good news.  keep us updated,  Julie

This did help me as I was told yesterday I had "a few" 3mm but dont worry we will look in a year. My sister had lung cancer and smoked and passed away and I told the dr. that and they changed it from one year to 3 months. Still am scared to pieces. I did smoke at one time but quit in 1985. Thank you for your post.

Hope you had a nice 4th of July.

No they didn't say they showed up the  first time.  Really the doc was more worried about the nodules and large cyst on my thyroid, which I will have another ultra sound on Aug. 1st.  Hoping they are going also.  But I don't think they will be gone because I can feel something in my throat.

After the shock of all the nodules, I went to my doc because my lymph nodes in my neck where enlarged.  Scared me to death, so he did more blood work and told me I also have Epstein Barr Virus ( Mono) which is awful for someone 46 years old.  They say the older you are the worse it is. Some people have had it for 3 years.

So no I haven't stopped smoking yet but I have cut it in half about 1/2 pack a day.

How are you doing?  What do they mean by ground glass opacities?

Wow that is great news.  I have scattered nodules (2 mm to 7 mm) with ground glass opacities.  They are going to re-do my CT scan in September - .

Did they tell you why the original nodule showed up 2 months earlier.

Have you quit smoking?

Happy 4th of July.

I am not sure about yours but this might make you feel better---- I had a ct scan on May 1st due to shortness of breath.  At that time they found a 5x6mm nodule on my upper lobe of right lung. I was scared to death due to I am a smoker and my mother pasted away 4 years ago of lung cancer.  Which I told my doc after he told me it's ok we will check it in a year.  After I told him about my Mother he said oh I didn't know that and we will check it again in 3 months.

I was worried to death and the doc's office called and said we will check it in 2 months. Long story short I did alot of praying and had my ct scan done again today.

NO SIGN OF NODULE AT ALL--- NO FURTHER FOLLOW UP!!!!!

I and thrilled beyond words. So don't worry until they retest you. Good Luck!!!
