Am i still a candidated for surgery if this mass has not invaded any other area. Now i have a biopsy scheduled for September 10th which is making me wonder what size this mass might be by the time i am finally given treatment.
Delaying management for suspected cancer can indeed lead to poorer outcomes. Starting treatment though, usually requires some testing first and it is not uncommon to have to wait a week or two for everything to be completed before the plan is thoroughly discussed with you. Some of the tests would be directed into making a decision about the disease extent and the others would mean estimating how well you would be able to tolerate the anticipated reduction in lung volume after the operation.
It would be best to discuss the feasibility of the operation with the surgeon. Size is one thing, but another important thing is its location. The presence of a node in the hilum does not exclude the option of curative surgery.
Stay positive.
