Shortness of breath

Hi to all. Just a quick question or 2.
I am a heavy smoker, around 25sticks of Ultra lights cigarette, have been smoking for 26years, 2 weeks ago i had colds and cough, a week later i started having difficulting breathing, any chance in your experience/opinion that Emphysema or Lung Cancer could have come up that quick?
I have the same experience a few years back but just went away but i feel this is a little more severe.
Also i noticed this shortness of breath comes up around mid morning until late afternoon then it will just go away, also i noticed that if i consume some alcohol then my breathing will normalize.
Anyone ever encounter this or could somehow provide some advise as i do not have yet any plans to see a doctor.

Had chest xray around march of this year and everything is clear based on readings by the radiologist
