I think stands for Standardized Uptake Value...the more uptake, the more likely for malignancy...but it can also mean some other metabolic process...like infection...Mom had this happen, one Dr. thought recurrence of lung cancer, in her other lung...luckily, turned out to be a lobular pneumonia...you know it is bad when one is happy to have pneumonia!! Beats the alternative...
