My mother was just told that she has a cyst in her lungs and they would recheck it in a couple weeks to see if it is cancerous, however i am very curious as to what this could mean. I have done some research and found a couple different answers. She is a 44 year ols woman very petite she has copd and astma and chronic pain from fibromialgia (fibromyalgia). What could the cyst on her lungs mean?
The cyst could occur due to benign or malignant causes and may require serial follow up to see if there is a change in size and if ir shows signs of malignancy further tests such as CT, PET or biopsy may be required to arrive at a conclusive diagnosis. It would be best to discuss the situation with her treating doctor.
Hope this helps.
