my 17 yo daughter was diagnosed with possible hepatic adenoma. She has never been on any type of contraceptives and has been a healthy child no meds. How unusual would it be for her to have this what else could it be? The oncolgist that we saw yesterday wants to remove the tumor and have it sectioned any input would help
Hepatic adenomas are benign (non-cancerous) liver lesions. These are relatively rare, and usually (but not necessarily) follow oral contraceptive use.
How large is the liver lesion in your daughters case? In a small minority of patients with large adenomas, malignant transformation is known to occur spontaneously, hence surgical removal may be advised.
All the best, and God Bless!
