When you have radiation on the head do you always lose your hair?

Hi,
You usually lose hair in the localised area of the head which receives the radiation therapy. It starts to fall out 2 to 3 weeks after your first radiation therapy session. Your hair may grow back 3 to 6 months after treatment is over. In some cases, if you received a very high dose of radiation, your hair may not grow back. You need to discuss this in detail with your oncologist as to what area will get the radiation and at what doses so that you are prepared and know what to expect. Goodluck.
