The tests are useful when they show something, they are also quite useful when nothing shows. The absence of anything on the Chest X-ray or the blood work may indicate that there isn’t any large infection and so the direction of management will depend also on these negative results. Smaller, limited infections may only present with the cough and not produce any other specific findings. Stay positive.
