Hello, my doctor says he has ordered a lung ct scan for me due to a chronic cough 4-5 months ,
1 . with a lung ct scan - would they look at the whole chest area or do they only look at the lungs ?
2 . with a lung ct scan is it with contrast or can you still have a lung ct scan without contrast ?
How are you? A chest CT scan usually evaluates the lungs, heart and ribs. Sometimes, a contrast agent or a dye is used for better pictures. Lung CT scans usually focuses on the lungs and may be done for lung cancer screening and other indications being assessed by a doctor. To ease any doubts,it is best that you clarify this with your attending physician. Take care and do keep us posted.
