should i be scared

hello i have a question i am a long time smoker about 2 weeks ago i came down with a cold and cough started couging up blood went to my dr was sent for chest x-ray it came back likely pneumonia.was given antibotics the c.ough and blood went away i went back for a follow up xray the spot was unchanged xray showed it was still likely pneumonia. i am supposed to have a cat scan in 2 weeks my question is if it is pneumonia. why did the spot not change i am so scared its lung cancer
