spiculated lung nodules in COPD patient following pneumonia

I had a CT scan in June that revealed a 7mm spiculated nodule3 in upper left lobe. I had a repeat CT scan in July (22) that revealed first nodule gone,
but  revealed a new 4 mm spiculated nodule in the lower right lobe.

They suggested another  CT scan in OCTOBER.? wHAT OTHER diagnostic tool could be used RATHER than waiting so long. What are the statistics on this phenomanom of recurring nodules? What is going on?

There are also some non-specific nodules in the scans.
