water in the lungs

I would just like to know that  people smoke sheesha or hooka, does this cause water build up in your lungs?

Hi there. Hookah smoke can cause various health hazards due to toxic compounds like carbon monoxide, heavy metals, cancer causing compounds like lung, oral and bladder cancers.  This could cause clogged arteries and heart disease, and increased risk of respiratory diseases in non-smokers. Water in lungs or pleural effusion is a common accompaniment of lung infections affecting pleura. This could warrant pleural tap to relieve the breathlessness. Since it could also cause heart disease, pulmonary hypertension and cor pulmonale, and hence water collection in peripheries. Consult a pulmonologist for evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care.
