white spots on lungs

by Gerriw, Jun 12, 2009 12:22PM
2006 dx with L) breast CA, Lumpectomy Nov. 2006, bilateral Mastectomy 2008, DVT 2009 ? due to tamoxifen.
taken off medication for 2 months due to DVT, only on Clexane bd 80mg, and Clindamycin due to nosacomial infection contacted post the mastectomy in nov 2008.

Have had Bone Scan and Ct scan 10th June, now found white spots on the lungs that when compared to previous scans both bone and Ct pre mastecotmy 2008,and lumpectomy in 2006 were not there.  Oncologist has organised a PET Scan to confirm Dx although the date for this is not yet available and the number of PET Scan machines in melbourne and minimal around 3 so the scan may not be for some time.

The original CA of breast was a level one encapsulated lump, but when being removed found that there was also Ca in the lymph nodes making my CA was a level 3 not !.  Left node clearence completed.
The Mastectomy in 2008 was for profalactic reasons, although they found a 2nd lump CA in the same breast L) CA.

I cannot think of anything else other than CA for the spots. Could radiotherapy to the breast cause this damage to the lungs? because I am unaware of anything else to consider and this has made caus me to become extremely anxious and nervouse,  I am a Div ! nurse working in the Emergence department of the busiest hospitals in Melbourne.

I would appreciate you contacting me and giving me any alternatives that may cause these spots!

and if you have any idea's as to what my life expectancy would be should this be CA.

White spots can be infection, calcifications, scar tissue, among other things...I hope you can get your PET scan soon. My Mom also had to have several bronchoscopies to help with her diagnosis...I am not sure if that is something that would be helpful or even feasible for you. Take Care
