white spots that look round & like ulcers in both lungs from chest xray And thyroid xrays looking black

Hello My name is pear. My dad had a chest xray at his chiropractic office and found out that his lungs are not strong. The chiropractor told my dad that he has white spots on both of his lungs that are round and look like blisters. My dad has no pains, coughs although he is a smoker. Can this be lung cancer?

ALSO...........................

My mother had an xray as well at the chiropractic office and was told her thyroid was not normal, due to that area looking dark in the xray? what is the cause to this?
please email me back as soon as possible, as my parents have no medical insurance and they would need to go to Mexico to get treatment.
I am very concerned with these findings and hope to hear positive news,

Thanks,
pear

Hi,

The description you gave doesn’t sound specific for lung cancer. If there are multiple nodules (as you used the word blisters), this would raise the possibility that it is not lung cancer (lung cancer tends to have a single dominant mass). It could be infectious or immunologic in origin, this could also be a cancer from somewhere else with secondary growth in the lung.

The thyroid doesn’t usually have an Xray among its work-up. If you mean a thyroid scan, the black spot may mean a cold nodule. This would only describe that it is not hyperfunctioning (which is something that may need medications before any consideration of taking a biopsy would be done), but further testing (this would usually mean a biopsy with a needle) would be needed to make a diagnosis of thyroid cancer.
If you can find out anything more specific, I may be able to elucidate further.
