Coughing up so Phlegm

Been coughing up a lot of Phlegm for about a year now, everyday its a huge amount, sometimes so much it wakes me up. but my lung x-rays are clear... any ideas?

Yes.  See a lung specialist or pulmonologist.  He/she will obtain sputum culture to rule out any lung infection.  He/she may also order a Pulmonary Function test that will measure your lung capacity and rule out any lung disease such as asthma or chronic obstructive lung disease which can cause one to cough secretions.
