Pulmonary Embolism & Pleurisy

My 18 year old daughter had knee surgery 3 weeks ago to fix a tear.  Last Wednesday she was diagnosed with a blood clot in her leg.  They gave her 2 Fragman injections and Coumadin and sent us on our way.  The next day we had a nurse come into our home to give her another Fragman injection and Coumadin.  I had to take her back to hospital Thursday night as she was complaining of chest pains.  They did a CT Scan on her and and said she had a double pulmanary embolism in her left lung and admitted her into hopsital.  Now today the doctor said he suspects she has pleurisy as well.  I'm so scared and feel so helpless I don't know what else to do.  Has anyone else ever gone through anything like this?  Is it normal to have both these things wrong at the same time?  Can anyone give me some insight as to what to expect for my daughter down the road.  I have a feeling we have a long road ahead of us :(

sorry for the delay.  Hopefully this is all sorted out by now, but pleurisy is just irritation of the pleural surface (the lining wrapper of the lung)  She should be evaluated for clotting disorders at some point including Protein C, Protein S, Antithrombin 3, Factor 5 Leiden deficiencies among other things.
