ANA Direct Positve and ANA IFA Negative?

ANA Direct Positve and ANA IFA Negative?

I was tested for a variety of autoimmune disease. My RNP came back positive, with a level of 5.2 and my ANA Direct also came back positive. In retesting, my doctor sent out an RNP level, ANA Direct, and ANA by IFA (immunofolrence i think).

Has anyone seen an instance in which the ANA direct was positive and the other ANA test was Negative? My doctor too is confused. She wants me to start Plaquenil but I do not know if this might mean I do not have the disease (MCTD) or not. In that case I do not want to start the drug unless I am sure I have it
