Doctor is finally convinced!! Tan easier??

The doctor is finally convinced I have lupus with a negative ANA. Now just waiting for the Plaquenil to start taking affect again. Off the Plaquenil, I can not work at all!!! It's horrible! I have to pace my days out so I am only active for 2-3 hour and not in the sun, otherwise I am done for a few days.
I'm curious to know if anyone has had any pigment changes? I seems like I tan WAY easier since I got sick than before in my life... A bit strange. Possibly could it be the closer regulation on my diet and vitamins. I've always ate good, but now I'm abit obsessive about it, bc it does make such a big difference in how I feel. And I take my 50,000units of vit D a week, and 1000 Vit B12 and daily vitamins religiously. I dont know that diet has much to do with tanning ability... haha but just wondering if it is a coincidence or if it's something anyone else has experienced.

I'm assuming you are asking if plaquinel causes your skin to appear darker and am not sun bathing.  I have heard that it can do that, but I have personally not experienced that.

I have been taking plaquinel for sometime know yet I have never had my skin turn any color then what it is yet I do get this horrible purple rash-like stuff if I stay out in the sun without being protected with lotion or coverings. One timwe I had forgotten to put any lotion on and I had my arm just alittle out the window and I got that horrible rash on my wrist it was worse then any sunburn and it toke almost 4 years for it to go away and the first 8 months I couldn't even touch it. People with lupus really should avoid doing any sunbathing or using tanning beds.

If you are tanning all over even in places not exposed to the sun, get checked for Addison's...also an auto-immune disease.

If you are tanning, then i would have some blood tests for iron, ACTH, and adrenal antibodies.
Tanning of the skin can come in iron overloads, and also addisons disease.

Addisons disease is an autoimmune disease involving the adrenal glands.
Usually causing low blood pressure, dark tanning skin in all areas, diarrhoea, and excessive fatigue.

Hope this as helped

Plaq lowers your sun sensitivity.Mine carries a warning on the bottle to avoid sun exposure and to make sure to use sunscreen.I do both and have still managed to get a wonderful "farmer tan" especially worse on the left side of my body as that is the one that gets hit when I drive.I have heard "Ooooh someone really got some sun lately" so many times this summer I could scream :).And this is with avoidance and SPF 70 so I know how you feel.

But yes Plaq will definately contribute.
