Hearing problems

I've been having trouble with my ears--hearing and pain. Not hearing loss, but hearing what sounds like a foreign language when someone is talking. Whether to me or just speaking in general. If I am looking directly at the speaker I can understand what is being said, however, if I have my back to them, or I'm in the next room, or on the telephone, it sounds as if they are speaking a foreign language. This is not a muffled sound--it sounds like Russian or sometimes like Chinese. Could this be a neurological problem? Has anyone ever heard of this? Could this be caused by my SLE?
Recently, I've started having sharp pain in my ears, extreme fatigue, GI issues (all random, I know). I don't want my doctor to think I am crazy--before my lupus was diagnosed I'm sure he thought I was a hypocondriac.

Sorry, have never heard of someone hearing a foreign language. Yes, it may be possible that you are having neurological issues that should be checked out.  The pain in your ears could be due to TMJ which is often goes along with Lupus as does the extreme fatigue and GI issues.  Do ensure you get back in touch with your rheumy (your GP is not the best person to be treating you for this) and mention your new symptoms.  It is very common to develop new symptoms over time.
