EBV was inactive - previous exposure to Mono is what my Dr said... Vitamin D was extremely low. I am now taking 50,000 units 3 times a week to get those levels up. With my systems, my Dr said that I had Fibromyalgia and RLS.
Did anyone do an ANA on you? Has anyone explained the swelling joints?
I'm pretty sure that swelling joints don't go along with fibro or RLS.
I would need to do some research, but I'm thinking that vit D deficiency "could be" related to an autoimmune problem such as lupus. It can just be a result of not getting enough sun exposure. But my D was low and it wasn't because of I wasn't out in the sun. Actually sun exposure made me feel bad (the next day), but I didn't relate it to my symptoms. But in the back of my head, it is not related to fibro.
I asked my cousin who is a pharmacist what can cause vit D deficiency, he said of coarse, lack of sun exposure and a problem with absorption in the intestines. So any medical condition that can cause problems with that....for example chrones, irritable bowel (which goes along with lupus and I think fibromyalgia). Do you have any problems with maybe diarrhea or your food not digesting (coming through undigested)?
Hope this helps clear up that part of what is going on.
My ANA was negative. I do have IBS too. I get out in the sun a good bit but, it really makes me feel worse. I have a big sensitivity to light in general. Any well lite store, out in the direct sun makes me real dizzy and lightheaded (faint feeling). I have also noticed that my hair is coming out. I have really long hair and it has always come out some but now by the hand fulls. I have done a lot of research and none of these symptom seem to be linked with FMS. Closer to Lupus. The swelling in the hands and ankles have not been explained to me... all he said that it could be coming from some of the meds I was taking. But, the swelling was there when I wasn't taking any medicine so, I guess he is not a very good Doctor. Maybe I need a second opinion.
I must agree with the thought on a second opinion. I would also request a second ANA. Be sureand spend time in the sun just prior to the lab test. If you have lupus, it will cause th ANA to be elevated. But if you don't have lupus, it will not affect the ANA level.
Stress can cause you hair to fall out. There definitely is a stress assoiciated with illness. But alopecia (hair falling out) is a symptom of lupus. But I do know there was a time when my hair fell out when I was having a hard time with endometreosis.
I'm not saying you have lupus, but I can relate to the dizzy spells. I'm not sure what causes the dizziness in lupus (maybe central nervous system problems), but most of the dizziness and nausea went away when I got settled in with Plaquinel.
Have they at least put you on prescription vit D? I believe that really helped me as much as the plaquinel. Another thing I would suggest asking a dr. to check for is tick born illnesses like lymes, RMSF, bartenella. They'll know what to check for. Some of the central nervous system and joint problems can be related to those illnesses.
All of this is just to get you thinking. I was so wanting to be well, I was shooting ideas out to my dr. I also tested positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, as well as low vit D, fibromyalgia and lupus. I feel like my life has been given back to me.
I think I would go for a second opinion as well. I have lupus and all the adema you have even losing some hair is a symptom, I was also told for years that I have IBS what i really have is Lupus, RA, Colitis (similiar to chrones) and a good old stomach ulcer from all the meds. The last thing I want to do is scare you and make you think you are sicker then you are but it sure never hurts to make sure and it sure can hurt if you don't make sure!!!
BUN/Creatinine 7.3 (normal)
C-Reactive Protein: 5.9 (normal)
Vit D 25-Hydroxy: 10.5 (very low!)
I am not familiar w/ these test, but looked them up for you.
Parvovirus B19, IgG: 6.2 (anthing over 1.1 is high) - Could indicate past or present infection
EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG: >8.0 (positive is anything over 99 or 120)
IgG is past or current exposure and IgM is current exposure. You Dr. seemed to be interested in just the past exposure.
EBV Ab VCA, IgG: >8.0 (positive is anything over 120) ex. neg
EBV Nuclear Antigen AB, IgG: 8.0 (positive is anything over 120) ex. neg
Keep me posted on how things turn out.
Thank you for your information.
