Positive ANA what does this mean?

Hello,
I am a 25year old woman, and yesterday I was told my ANA was positive. They gave me a copy of y test and it reads like this:
"ANTINUCLEAR ANTIBODIES, IFA    SEE PATTERNS
                                                      NEGATIVE 1:80
HOMOGENEOUS PATTERN            1:320(Abn:H)
SPECKLED PATTERN                     1:320(Abn:H)
NOTE:                                             COMMENT
A POSITIVE ANA RESULT MAY OCCUR IN HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS OR BE ASSOCIATED WITH A VARIETY OF DISEASES. SEE INTERPRETATION BELOW:
PATTERN   ANTIGEN DETECTED SUGGESTED DISEASE ASSOCIATION
---------------   ----------------     ------------------------------------------
HOMOGENEOUS DNA(DS,SS,),     HIGH TITERS - SLE
(SMOOTH)   HISTONE
---------------   ----------------     ------------------------------------------
SPECKLED    SM, RNP, SCL-70,  SLE,MCTD,SCLERODERMA,SJOGRENS SS-A/SS-B
---------------   ----------------     ------------------------------------------
NUCLEOLAR   SCL-70, PM-1/SCL  HIGH TITERS SCLRODERMA POLY-
MYOSITIS/SCLERODERMA OVERLAP
--------------   -----------------     -----------------------------------------
CENTROMERE   CENTROMERE    PSSW/CHEST SYNDROME VARIABLE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------"
Now I just dont get how I an positive when ot says that >1:80 is positive. Also what does all that mean anyway? I have an appointment with a Rheum in a month, but I'm so scared I can't sleep, and thats along time not to sleep.
Thank you for any help anyone can give!!!!

Looks like they  got a homogenous and speckled pattern at a 1:320 titer.the listings below them are patterns and illnesses that are associated with a certain pattern type. The pattern and titer can and does fluctuate(I have been both speckled and homogenous also)the titer is how many times they dilute until no autoantibodies are present-but it doesnt mean they did it 320 times-it doubles itself every dilution so

1:40-1:80-1:160-1:320 so they did yours 4 times and then it showed clean.

I wouldnt freak out-I will say that your rheumy will most likely retest labs again at the appt and if still high do further investigating to see if you could possibly have autoimmune issues going on.

Lupus.org is a great site for ANA info-and they have tons of articles you can look up and alot of guest MD articles that provide info. Also the Academy of College of Rheumatologists is a great site that has a ton of patient info and you can find it under Rheumatology.org

Hope this helps and you get some solid answers soon.Dont freak :)...it will all work out ok.Hope you get a great dr and quick answers too.

take care
