Some things I have been told is Def stay away from sulfa medications. I was also given an herbal supplement called Max GLX (The glutathione accelerator) by a woman I know who also has lupus and swears by it. In the beginning I was skeptical, but after using this product, I too swear by it. I recently started taking this but I can definitely see a huge difference! Let me know if it works for you as well! Hope these helped! Iv just recently come close to a lupus dx so I too would love to hear other things that seem to help!

Some things that I have found that helps is reducing sugar intake, getting good sleep, staying out of the sun, not getting stressed out, and eating raw fruits and veggies.

Many Thanks for your kind input. I am having a cronic (chronic) pain in the joints. I do not like to increase the intake of steroids and / or NSAID. I will adopt your suggestion. Thank you once again.

I Would Def not recommend increasing the steroids. I was placed on steroids and gained 60lbs in 3 months..and w in that year, I gained 110 lbs total. Make sure you have all of the medication side effects before deciding it is your best option. Good luck! You are in my prayers!

Another thing steroids can bring on is diabetes!!  There is a definite link there although steroids don't always cause diabetes.

Have you tried sleeping regularly on an air mattress??  I am not officially diagnosed with lupus, but have many signs of it.  I wasn't really aware of lupus as a disease entity before and am just starting to consider that I might have lupus even though my symptoms began 20 years ago when my entire body was wracked with pain after giving birth to my son.  No doctor could tell me what was wrong.  The only thing that helped me was getting off a traditional mattress and onto first a water bed and finally an adjustable air mattress.  What a difference!!!  I strongly suggest you try sleeping on an air mattress. You don't have to start out with a Select Comfort (although they are great!) - you can just pick up a cheap camping air mattress for $20 at WalMart.  When on longer trips, I have sometimes had to resort to buying a cheap air mattress to put on top of my hotel mattress to relieve the pain and be able to sleep!!  That is how I cope with my pain without drugs.

To avoid flares, avoid sunlight or UV rays in a tanning bed!!  I am trying for a diagnosis, so I have been stepping up my tanning bed exposure and last night I felt the weakest ever and dizzy while sleeping and woke up with a 20-beat tachycardia!!  Scary!

Good luck to you!

Thanks for your prayers that I don't have lupus, but I would rather have lupus than ALS (which is also in the differential).  I just want an answer after 6+ years of inquiry.  I'll take whatever my real diagnosis is - just need to know what it is!!

Meanwhile, I hope and pray that an air mattress will relieve your pain the way it has mine!!
Try a cheap air mattress first and inflate it just to the level of your comfort zone (not too much pressure).

Good luck with it!
