bechets disease

I have been diagnosed with Bechets disease. I am on Azathioprine 150 mg treatment.
I have inflammation of my eyes and joints.
I have been diagnosed with Tricuspid Regurgitation and slightly enlarged right ventricle.
Does Bechets disease cause this problem?

Hi.
Sorry to hear you have Bechets Disease.
Bechets Disease is an Auto-immune disease, which can cause Inflammation throughout the body, causing allsorts of problems.
It usually causes bad oral mouth ulcers, and also ulcers in unpleasant places.

It can cause heart problems, along with Neuro bechets.

I hope the Azathioprine will dampen down the Immune System, and cause your Bechets to be less active.

I also hope you are seeing a Optholomogist to keep a close check on the eyes, Bechets also causes Eye problems too.

I hope this has helped a little.
If you need anymore help, just give me a shout.
Good Luck
Nicola

Thank you for the message. It was most helpful.
I am under an eye specialist. Also under a cardiologist.

I have been diagnosed with Tricuspid regurgitation and mildly enlarged right atrium as well.

Hi the heart issues, could well have been caused by the Bechets, but you need to keep with the cardiologist so he can keep an eye, on this issue, and if in the future treat this problem appropiately for you.

Glad to know you have an optholomogist also, as the eyes are very precious to us all.

I hope with the proper treatment that they can bring your Bechets under control.

Out of reference, may i ask you how long did it take you to get a proper diagnosis, of Bechets, from when the first symptoms started.?
I have spoken to many Bechets sufferers, who it took them a while to get the proper diagnosis, of there medical condition.

Good Luck

Hi thank you for your reply. It took a while before it was diagnosed. I had a problem with my eyes. ( floaters and red eye).

I am glad to hear you have been diagnosed, and hopefully they can keep this illness at bay for you,
Bechets can take a while to diagnose, thats why i asked how long before you got a diagnosis, because there isnt just one persific test for Bechets.

I do know that Bechets causes red eye, as along with many other inflammation throughout the body, even to organs like the heart and brain.
With proper treatment they can keep the flares, or bad times you experience with this illness at bay.

I would definately keep with the optholomogist as our eyes are precious.#
The cardiologist for the heart issues. and also the rheumy who treats the Bechets.

I hope this has helped you, and i hope you feel much better soon, with your new treatment.

Good luck, and if you need anymore help, just give me a nudge.

Hi,
I was just wondering if you knew anything about other treatments for Bechets?  I have been through the maze of tablet form medication combinations, and none seem to be working for me, so my Consultant tells me that on my next visit (July) I will begin daily injections. Have you any clue what these could be, are there any side effects?

Regards
Angie
