A few sudden changes...

For the past couple weeks, I've developed some balance/dizziness.

My head has a pressure feeling and if I touch it, it's tender.

Also, the extreme out of it feeling has returned in the evening. I guess the word to describe it is "zombie" like state.

Is this a herx five months in to treatment?

Am I making progress? Or should I just stop treatment.

Thanks guys! I worry a lot about this disease.

I had a girls night on Saturday night where I had ALL junk food, candy, cupcakes, brownies, cookies the whole nine yards! You know I couldn't have a party and eat meat and cheeses lol, so I indulged and really paid for it Saturday and all day yesterday. I was exhausted and REALLY dizzy!

I haven't been eating that great for a few weeks now because honestly when you feel blah you eat what you think you can get down and that may not be the best for the Lyme or your body.

Try getting yourself back to eating the meats, cheeses and fibers and stuff. :)

Keep us in the loop!

Do  you have a fast heartbeat too?  Mine is always over 100 when I am on my feet.  This is not normal for someone who has been an exerciser their whole life.

You might want to google those conditions I mentioned above for some insight.

Thanks again Patsy. I bet that's what's up. Wow. I get more severely when I exercise.

Hi Erica, Have been on doxy for about six months.

Biaxin for 3 and a half months.

I gave up the weights as it seemed like I would get sore and then I couldn't do anything.

Eating habits have recently taken a bit of a dive. Am working on that. I had lost five lbs a couple weeks ago and I felt myself again. But then I slipped back to carbs and cake, and I am now getting more back on track with it as it gave me so much energy.

I just feel pretty lousy in some ways. . . I slipped in the pool at the gym today. I know it's the balance thing. Oh dear! In front of people much much older then me too.

I also have the feelings of light headedness and dizziness upon getting up. Especially when I have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom(all that water!) and first thing in the morning too. I also have blood pressure that is lower 110/66 at my last appt.

I would keep an eye on it. I know you are taking the Flagyl right? But what other abx are you on? Did you just start a new med or new supplement? Have you just introduced weight training or a change of eating into your daily regimin? You would be amazed how even the smallest thing could impact your progress.

Seeing stars when you stand sounds like it could  be POTS or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.    These are common in lyme disease.  I have it severely.  What happens is there is a big drop in blood pressure when you go from sitting to standing.  My normal BP is around 110/70.  If I get up from a sitting or squatting position position my BP drops to 60/40.   I've had this for years and no amount of treatment has made it any better.  For me I feel it is damage to my autonomic nervous system.  You could ask your doctor to check your BP sitting then standing to see if this is what is going on.

Thank you for your insights.

It started a few weeks ago with my neck. I tried to work out the kinks and it made me sort of dizzy -- and I thought -- oh no!

The back of my head is tender -- maybe due to the neck exercises.

I'm avoiding popping my stiff neck altogether and have noticed some improvements in the neck as far as it goes.

But I see stars when I get up and I am trying to avoid sudden moves as that triggers dizziness and stars.

I'm going to stick with the abx, but wonder if it's causing any damage.

Thanks again!

Have a peaceful Sunday!

I get balance problems intermittenly.  I personally don't think it is a herx reaction this far into treatment unless you have started a new medication recently.

Where is your head tender to touch?  Sinus issues can cause the tenderness, head pressure  as well as balance issues.  Have you had a cold recently? I would let your doctor know tomorrow what you are feeling.
