ANA Titer

Can the ANA titer be positive in Lyme Disease?

I had a 1:160 diffuse titer back in 1997 when my symptoms were new. Last year another ANA was negative.

EMedicine on Lyme says ANA will be negative.

I know that mycoplasmas, which have been discovered in people with CFS, fibromyalgia and various autoimmune diseases, at some point have the ability to invade cells and create an "autoimmune response". If you would like more information on this, you can google "The Institute for Molecular Medicine" and click on "autoimmune illnesses".

I hope that helps !

I will answer my own question. Maybe it will help someone else.

I have read in that the ANA can turn up positive with many diseases that affect your immune system. I also have Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, so that could also be the reason it is positive.

Some of the books I read on Lyme also mention it.
