hey y'all... i'm just wondering if anyone else who has lyme, has had problems with their sinus'?? i have been diagnosed with cysts on my maxillary sinus'
My LLMD believes that alot of my head symptoms (such as head pressure, sore throat, unclear vision and headaches) will subside with treatment/operation of my sinus cysts.
Yes this is how I actually knew I had Lyme. It started in July with really bad sinus headaches that were non stop. They finally did xray that showed sinusitis. The first round of antibiotics did nothing and then I was switched to another and still nothing. My neighbor came over during this time and tells me she was just diagnosed with Lyme after having a mini stroke. It was then that I remembered my tick I pulled off me in June and had a little rash, but nothing that told me it was anything to worry about. I went to my doctor and got tested and sure enough I was IGM positive for Lyme. Went on doxy for one month then switched to ceftin. My headaches are gone now and that was really the only symptom I had except minor dizziness and nausea. Good Luck it will get better!
yes, I started with a couple bad nose bleeds during migraine headaches. I had pressure/migraine/sinus headaches nonstop for months, with some type of blood/scabs/clots coming out of my nose on a daily basis. This went on for at least 5-6 months.
They found brain lesions right after the initial nose bleeds and so really didn't care about the sinus issues I was having. It really took an urgent care doctor to see that I was SICK and that it wasn't just all neurological and gave me an antibiotic saying that my sinus mucosal lining was abnormally thick. (something that my neuro noted in my 2nd MRI, but never said anything about it to me)
When I had a herx from it, I started thinking,,maybe this IS really lyme. I tested CDC positive a month or so after that.
I have suffered from sinus pain for yearssssss. I can handle it anymore. I have to say the Nasonex helped a bit, but i think its gone beyond anitbiotic help. I have a specialist appointment in a week and a half. I hope takes me serious, because i'll just walk out unless he says he can absolutley help me. I start Doxy on the 24th. im hoping my treatment will prevent this from happening again
Please stay away from steroids if you have lyme. They can make your infection worse! I did nasonex too and I did not know I had lyme at that time, but only for three weeks. But the worst of my pain was central face, nose, behind eyes and forhead. I also experienced numbness in the central face. I stopped the nasonex and it sill continued, then I found out I had lyme. Just be careful!
I have had "behind the eyes" pain for years...
It as if the muscles are just tight as can be.
Like a scrunched up fearful face ... but on the inside... not visible to someone watching.
It mainly shows up when I am not busy.. e.g., meditating or trying to relax.
I have been working on it as some anxiety related problem for the most part...
Hoever, I have recently been diagnosed as having Lyme Disease.
Three consecutive different tests -- all positive.
I am showing few other symtoms...
however I do have other nerosymptoms ... memory, etc.
But these could be age related.??? I'm 66.
I am still trying to find out what stage of Lyme I'm in.???
Have seen a general Infectuous disease specialist...
and scheduled to see a) a Lyme Literate Doctor and b) Johns Hopkins specialist.
I would be interested in hearing more about your case.
I had the tick on me in June of this year, a rash developed and it was not a bulls eye but round none the less. I dismissed it as just a normal skin reaction and did not go to the doctor. Three weeks later the nausea developed as if I were pregnant and then the headaches that were like a bulls eye behind eyes and nose and face, central face. It did however radiate to ear on one side and jaw. I never had sinus issues and never had many headaches. These pains were stabbing pains like daggers behind the eyes and I had never in my life experienced this before. It was a definate clue that something was wrong. I did not connect the two however until September after being diagnosed with sinusitis and it did not respond to zithromax or omnicef, it got better short term only for the headaches to return after stopping the anitibiotics which were total of the two, two weeks in duration. Before I finished the second antibiotic, I had been tested for lyme by my request. My neighbor had come over to say she had it after having a stroke like paralysis of her face. It was then I remembered the tick and said you know I am just going to see if that is what is behind all this. I was otherwise a healthy person of 44 years until this summer, sure enough I was positive! I went on Doxycycline immediately for one month, and am still on ceftin for almost another month. I am vitrually headache free. I have had fatigue though while on antibiotics that was not present before and mild
numbness of extremities. I dont know if that is medicine or lyme but I have religiously taken my medicine and have made a lot of progress. The headaches were having a serious effect on my life before the doxycyline, so I am told by my doctor that I caught this very early. I am praying that he is right and I will be symptom free even off the medicine if a few days. He is following up with me in one month, to make sure. His daughter had this too and it was a little past mine before they caught it and she is fine after three months of treatment and back in school with my son. If it is early in the disease you will recover. I think its hard to move on though once you know you have had lyme. You get aches and pains and get upset, but I just tell myself, you know I had these stupid aches and pains all my life, except for those headaches!! Dont let it get the best of you and remain positive and follow the doctors orders and take the medicine. It has its own side effects but they are mild and will pass and things do get better!!!
thanks for everyone's feedback! its good to hear that other's with lyme are experiencing the same symptoms with my sinus' (i guess i should it say its good, but you all know what i mean by it) i never put the two together!
The person you replied to (philamp) posted that message more than 4 years ago, and I don't recall him/her posting since then ... so you might or might not get a response.
I'd suggest you post your own new message, by clicking at the top of the page on the orange button named 'Post a Question' and giving your inquiry a name that would catch the eye of someone who has information on your issue, such as "Central face numbness?"
