Now I remember, It was Dr Schaller who said in his book he thinks Lyme is the co-infection of Bart's and babs. Interesting thought.

Ticks carry numerous and some unknown percentage of people get more than one when they get bit.  Where I got bit, at least 40% of Lyme patients are turning up with one or more additional infections.  No one knows how many times people get two or more without getting Lyme.

Sometimes these coinfections can be "hidden", and they show up after the initial Lyme is treated.  The most common are Bartonella, Babesia, Anaplasmosis(HGA), Ehrlichia (HME), and Mycoplasma. You can check out the list at Columbia University's Lyme website.  columbia-lyme.org

Jackie won't mind if I pop in and say she is talking about the common co-infections of Lyme, like bartonella, babesia and a few other which my brain fog won't let me remember the name of.
Read my post to Mrs Aristotle for more explanation since I am heading out the door now.

What other infections are you talking about. Right now I'm feeling fine.
No aces or anything.

Yes, Jackie is right. It is something to remember, don't get discouraged and keep up the positive thinking.

Not to spoil the party here, but if you don't improve fully after the doxy, then consider that the tick that gave you the lovely bullseye rash may have also brought other infections that don't respond to doxy.  Don't worry about it, just tuck it in the back of your mind and come visit with us if you want to explore the conversation.  Best wishes for a full and fast recovery!

Glad you got it. Ditto Rico on time of taking it.

Good! Since you have had it more than a month, you need more than a month of doxy.  If your doc oonly gave you 3 weeks, do your best to get 6-8 weeks worth.

Yes, you need to find a Lyme doc. Google Lyme doctor and your city for fastest results. You need to be on Doxy quickly!

I have done some research and I can't find a record of anything else that causes a bulls eye rash.  You need antibiotics immediately!  The bugs have already had at least 4 weeks to disseminate through your body.  You need a bare minimum of 28 days of doxycycline (protest if the doc only gives you 3 weeks--too many stories of treatment failures at 3 weeks), ideally 2-3 months worth.

For sure don't wait tell your doctor about Lyme not all doctors think of it and if put u on antibiotics I would ask if I could take them for a couple  months. Most docs think 4 weeks but I did that and it wasn't enough.

Hard to say if it's Lyme, but I strongly suggest you

(1) take a photo of it

(2) find a Lyme specialist for a consultation and

(3) don't wait.  Lyme is harder to cure the longer you wait.
