CD57 LEVEL, Extremely Low

by StarLuv, Oct 14, 2009 06:00PM
i have advanced Lyme, co-infected with Babesiosis... but my question is how long does it take for it to get to a 15?? all my Dr explained was that it takes a very long time to get that low an even longer to get it back up. i hav been sick for most of my life but just found out not even three months ago what it actually is. i'm 26yrs old, married, and spend 50% of my time in a wheelchair and most of my other time sick, hurting or stuck in bed. i have a 6yr old son and am raising my older sister's daughter who is almost 4. my sister passed away 2 yrs ago. i just want my life back! and i want a realistic idea of how long it's going to take. i'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!  as much as my husband is there for me and he takes Wonderful care of me, but i still feel like i'm going through this alone... like no one understands. it seems living it alone makes it all the more trying...

Hang in there Starluv...now that you know what you're fighting there is hope. The longer you've had this horrible bacteria in your body...the long it will take to eradicate it. The CD 57 test is a newer and promising marker for making progress on Lyme Disease. Treatment will not cause it to shoot up right away...most LLMD's will explain that often it won't budge for quite a while and then will eventually go up quickly. I have suffered for over 2 years and have seen multiple MD's only to finally seek out a specialist on my own when the was no other option for what I have. I am currently on oral antibiotics and seeing a Doc that is 8 hours from me...needless to say...not the optimal situation. I'm trying to see another specialist, but they are in high demand and it takes time to get in. I have done a LOT of research on Lyme over the past several months...as like you...i'm young (29) and determined to get my life back to where it was. Some words of advice for you: Follow a strict diet from now on, no alcohol...it totally kills your immune system,  cut out sugar wherever you can, no empty carbs or white breads/pastas...wheat whole grain ok but don't over do it. Sleep and stress reduction is vital for your immune system to get stronger. If you prefer, i'm here to talk in other ways if you have questions. I can be reached at ***@**** or sirjoey33 on AIM. If you aren't aware of this documentary...check it out...it is possible to come back from where you are. www.underourskin.com. Ok...now I have to get back to studying...i'm in school right now to become a Nurse Practicioner which quite a challenge while having Lyme...big Anatomy test on Monday!

You could be having a herxheimer reaction which is from the toxins that are released when the bacteria die.  You can google it and read on it.

Yes, feeling so alone. Fortunate to find therapist whom I have seen now for 6 years, along with several antidepressants at same time. Was so sad, wanted to be dead often. Had severe lyme in central nervous system. I have improved sooo much, but it is a long, tiring road. After IV rociphen (5 months in 06) followed by nearly continuous oral antibiotics I have made progress I never dreamed possible.
