Chest/Sternum pain

by skarey, Jul 25, 2009 12:48AM
I woke up this morning and my chest hurts dead center...hurts to push on too.  I've never had the chest pain here... it's always been in my heart.  What does this mean?

Thanks.

pain in 'sternum/chest' - is often due to 'costochondritis' it is inflammation where the ribs and sternum meet as well as general rib pain - I have had it myself and it seems to be fairly common among lyme sufferers - it can be very sore to touch - ouch!! - and quite scarey.

just an idea.

I intended to say - soaking in a fairly hot bath - with Epsom Salts or Radox [muscle soak] helps me - it may be what's in the water or just the fact that I am relaxing! - recently I feel like I have to be 'on the move' all the time - more so than normal atleast.

I agree with Gorbs -- it's the cartilage where the breastbone meets the ribs, and Lyme bugs like to hide cartilage (think:  knees and other joints) because it has low blood flow and makes it easier for the bugs to hide from abx, which are carried by the bloodstream.

It happens to me sometimes but doesn't last longer than a few hours or a day at most.

Might be part of a Herx --

Take care -- feel better soon --

Ditto what gorbybelle said.  I have had this pretty bad in the past.

The sternum pain kinda faded, but it was replaced with stabbing side pain in my ribs on both sides.  Its a sharp stabbing pain in my rib area that comes and goes.  Hurts.  Could I still be herxing possibly?  I had a day or two where I felt better, but today my wrists and hands are hurting again.

I definatley don't feel any better since taking antibiotics.  I've been on them for close to 2 weeks now.

Two weeks would barely touch the tip of the iceberg.  I saw no improvement until 4 months.  I would think you could be in the peak of herx symptoms.

I agree with Patsy, you need at least 2months before felling better at 4 months wow I might live comes over you :-)  Hang in there it is well worth it in the end.
