First round of IV antibiotics at home?

A few months ago, before getting my lyme diagnosis, I had a severe herx reaction to oral Bactrim.  I took it twice and an hour after taking it I started having stroke like symptoms. My heart started racing, II got a strange purple rash, I had difficulty walking and couldn't remember what year it was. Now I know that this was actually a herx reaction, but it stumped the ER doctors at the time.

Since my lovely insurance would not pay for the hospital to administer the first round of antibiotics, I have a nurse coming to my home tomorrow.  If you had a history of cardiac problems after taking antibiotics, would you have this done at home? Or should I go to my doctor's office for the first procedure?  I guess my insurance will cover that, but it's obviously less convenient.

Am I just overly anxious about this?  Please advise. :)

Can you discuss these concerns with your doctor?

Lyme can cause all of those symptoms (at least I have had them all but usually when I'm off of antibiotics).

Some people don't herx at all but slowly improve in time. Everyone's different.  I understand being nervous about this. I'd talk to the doctor about your concerns if you can get in to see him/her before having the PICC line put in just to put your mind at ease.

BTW, I can't take Bactrim either. Even before I had LD.

Your reaction to Bactrim sounds more like an allergic reaction than a herx reaction to me.   Herx reactions usually take longer as the toxins from the dye off build up.  Bactrim, a sulfa drug is a very common drug that many people are allergic to.  The reactions can be quite severe.  The immune system is  sensitized  to the first dose then the second dose and all subsequent doses cause the actual reaction.
