I just posted a longer response to you under your other question.
Doesn't matter when or where your daughter may have gotten what may be Lyme. I would suggest you take her to your own Lyme doc for a work up exam and see what he says.
I know someone whose child got Lyme in utero, and the baby is now grown and fine.
Take care! Let us know how it goes. Thinking of you and sending all good wishes.
Not sure, I was convinced its ms
Took her to optomatrist and all fine
Took her to opthamologist who said all fine, but that we described optic neuritis symptons and he hopes for her sake its not ms.
Ms is rare, and rare in kids, but not impossible.
I will get her tested at igenex next and even take her to a neuro to get their opinion.
Very hard when all Drs tell us different things.
My Dr said I could of passed lyme to her in the womb...
I'm hoping this is the case.
We need to get her tested asap
These are somewhat different meds from what I took, but they sound to be in the same medication 'families'.
Was your daughter's optic neuritis related to a Lyme or similar infection?
Hi
Thanks for that.
He tells me I have lyme, but because my daughter has had optic neuritis symptons on and off since 2007 I want to be sure.
He has prescribed me Bicillin LA, Klacid 250mg tablet, flagyl 400mg tablet, septrin forte
I am not familar with these 4 meds, and want to check them all out too
Greetings --
I can't speak to the IFA result -- I don't have at hand a scale to know what '80' means on that test, tho the test is I believe similar to the ELISA test, from what I have read.
The IgM and IgG tests measure how recent (or recurrent) a Lyme infection is. IgM is a current/more recent infection; IgG is an older infection. Either one, however, means Lyme, to my understanding.
As to the bands ("specific" means no other bacteria but Lyme would show up positive on that band):
IgM
18: highly specific to Lyme, meaning only Lyme gives this result
34: indicates outer surface protein B (OspB), which is specific to Lyme
41: indicates a spiral-shaped bacterium, which may or may not be Lyme
58: unknown, but may be Lyme
66: common to all Borellia bacteria, which includes Lyme
83-93: specific to Lyme, probably a bit of cytoplasmic membrane
IgG:
39: a major protein of Bb and specific to Bb
41: may or may not be Lyme

CDC/NYS require more bands that are more positive than the IGeneX interpretation. LLMDs tend to use the IGeneX interpretation.
I'm not medically trained, but based on the information above, I would definitely follow up with my Lyme doc. Let us know how you do!
