Headache from drinking water???

I think I might haver given mysdelf a headache from drinking too much water. I 've read another lymie claiming this happens every time she drinks a lot.
Does anyone think this could be possible? Or know anything about how it could happen?
I wondered if it could fluch out too many minerals or something, since Lyme seems to unbalance everything and make it hard for the body to maintain the right levels of so many nutrients.

BTW the reason I drank so much water is because I have cystitis and I was aiming to get rid of it without having to go to the doctor....  :(

The old spirits are strong, Bob.  Wouldn't surprise me if they are still hanging around.  Ohio's full of them.

I don't know what was in the water from uncles spring, but it tasted so much better than the water from wells down in the floor of the valley I couldn't stop drinking it.  I'll bet I drank two or three gallons in just a couple hours.  I later found that the water from wells down in the valley were high in manganese, tasted somewhat rusty, and that Mn is something Lyme spiros like.  No such taste from uncle's spring.  I can't recall where I found the reference to large amounts of water causing hallucinations, maybe something I ran across in the seven floors of library at Ohio University in the 90s.  But I do remember putting the Native American I saw and the large amount of water I drank that day together.  Ah, now I understand!  Uncle's coal company house is long gone, but the spring is still there and I occasionally drink from it.  Not as much as way back then, so not enough to make a much larger me see anything.  The water still tastes very good, very pure and clean.

I am sitting here in the middle of the night laughing out loud about the name of the movie 'Hard Times' -- I had heard of the movie before, but never knew of the....  uhhh ... plot twist related to the name.  Good laugh!

Maybe there are other kinds of vinegar that aren't apple based but would work just as well.  If anyone has figured that out already, it's got to be someone in Italy ...

Ciao bella!

Thank you for all the useful tips everyone!

I don't know if I'd be OK with apple cider vineagar as I'm allergic to apples. I'll give it a try and see. I'm also allergic to cranberries - cranberry juice is the thing widely advised for cystitis in England - they even sell tablets of it in pharmacies.

Ricobord, I think I did have those brain changes you described, in fact I'm sure. I do have bart, and I did have endless thirst and massive weeing. That has cleared up lately and I reckon it may be why I got cystitis, as I don't drink much these days!

Bob, I bet someone had chucked some wacky tablets down that well!
You story reminded me of the film Hard Times, about some hard-up men in Ireland who steal a cannister of viagra and then chuck it down a well when the police are onto them. it seeps into the village's water supply and... well, the results are hilarious.

I believe that Lyme can affect the part of the brain that produces the hormone that manages water in the body. (When it's damaged, you get diabetis insipidus.)  I had this for a while with Lyme. I could put out 800ml in one sitting! With my first 24 hour urine collection test, I nearly filled the huge jug they gave me.

While this symptom slowly subsided with treatment, I think I had it longer than I realized. I wonder if this is related to getting a headache when drinking large quantities of water...  If the body is not metabolizing water properly, it could possibly produce a headache.

I have wondered if it was Bartonella causing this. I know someone else with Lyme who had this thirst/diluted urine/excessive urination problem and she also had Bart.

Jackie's comment about Ph is insightful.  Perhaps you're getting too alkaline with the excess water?

My father grew up in a very hot, dry climate, and when he worked outside in the summers, he was taught to add some grapefruit juice to keep from getting sick from the large amount of water he had to consume.  Grapefruit juice is a big problem with many medications, but I am sure you can find a good alternative.

I knew you were a special guy, Bob, but didn't fully appreciate how 'special' till just now.  :)   Was there something in the well water that affected you, other than mass quantities of water?

Some of our family used to live way out in the country where all they had was well water, and it was loaded with minerals, like what they give you at fancy spas now.

Not only can it give you a headache.  Drinking copious amounts can cause hallucinations.  I drank a LOT from my uncle's spring, back before I was 5, and a Native American in full headdress stepped out of the spring!  I still remember it, my uncle came down to ask what I was doing.  Programmed by TV already, I replied  "Shooting that din, din. Pow, pow.  Can't you see him, he's standing right next to you!"  Just so you all know, I haven't seen anything that wasn't there since, except for floaters.  Or, maybe he was there.....

I've not had the headache problem, but I also don't take in a lot of fluids.

Re cystitis, have you tried drinking apple cider vinegar in water to change the pH in your body?

I just google/searched

               cystitis apple cider vinegar

and there are lots of links.  Be sure to dilute it with water, tho!  I was using it to change my pH when I had a systemic yeast infection, and it seemed to help (esp NOT the grocery-store Heinz stuff that is very harsh to drink).

Hope you feel better soon --
