Any treatment that induces an immune response may also then trigger a Herxheimer reaction in a Lyme disease patient.
I recently experienced this myself when a deep tissue massage caused me to have a dramtic Herx. I had read of this possibility before, but I was skeptical. But now from my personal experience, I'm a believer.
So if the light therapy triggered your immune system, that could have resulted in a Herxheimer.
As for whether or not such treatments are more effective than antibiotic therapy, I'm still doubtful on that. But I think such alternative therapies can be helpful and complementary to Lyme treatment.
Not everyone has a rough time with treatment. I have, my Herx's do cause me to feel worse before I get better. My treatment has lasted longer than I would have hoped or expected. But on the bright side, over time I am improving and recovering my life.
It's difficult to keep in perspective, but keeping a positive outlook can only help!
BTW~ I thought you were giong to a LLDO and he is a he not a she? I"m confused.. maybe your seeing two different doc's?
Hey dugganwi, I think a herx reaction is caused from the abx. I'm not sure what the pulsar eletro thing is but may have aggravated your symptoms? Maybe call and ask the doctor? I've had muscle testing done before but I personally would not rely on it 100% for a dx of lyme. Hopefully, you'll know more when you get your test back.
