IGM and IGG

by skarey, Apr 24, 2009 11:46AM
I've only tested positive (reactive) to the IGG.  This means I've had a past infection right?  I've just read somewhere that IGM means an "active" infection and IGG means a "chronic" infection.   But I'm presenting with SX now so wouldn't I have shown a reaction to the IGM as well??   But having a Reactive at all means I've been exposed to the disease right?  Cause the IGG showes up later in the disease.  So that's got to mean something right????
  I'm so confused!

Anyone else tested Reactive on IGG bands only as well?

If your test was not through Igenex, you really need to consider retesting through them.  Lots of people get "incomplete" band results through other labs.  You can get your Igg and Igm antibodies run for about $180.00.  You will need a doctor to sign your lab slip.

I had just one IgM band and two IgG bands, done through IGeneX.  My IgM band was band 41, which is not specific to Lyme.

Many patients have weak to little serology to support a Lyme diagnosis.  That is why finding a good doctor who will listen to your history and symptoms can be key to getting proper treatment.
