Itchy little red bumps a few days after a tick bite.

I will try to keep this short and sweet. I found about 25 deer ticks on me. A few days later I called a Lymes specialist and they said that since it was so soon, they weren't going to do a blood test on me, just put me on medication. I am on months cycle of doxycycline. A few days after I removed all of the ticks, I started to get these itchy little red bumps all over. They started on my arm, then moved to my legs, back, chest, and groin. It is just annoying and I don't know what I should do. My insurance doesn't kick in until September 1, 2010.

I have read it could possibly be the tick venom leaving my body and that could take anywhere from 1-3 weeks. Does this sound correct?

Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, but I don't think Mike 54321 has posted here since that inquiry.  You could try to send him a private message thru this website by hovering over his name and clicking 'send message' in the balloon that pops up.

If your doc gave you prednisone, that would, from what I read, be the wrong thing to do if you have Lyme or another bacterial disease, bec. prednisone is a steroid and suppresses your immune system rather than letting it kill the bacteria.

Best wishes -- let us know the outcome, ok?

So what was the outcome? I had 50+ deer ticks pulled off me and have the little red bumps all over me where they bit me and are itchy. Went to the doc and said had a reaction to too many foreign bodies. week later still have them, still itch and was on pregnizone and still on Doxy....

PS  It could maybe Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, which can be quite serious.  You could look up photos online.  But I'd still call the MD.  Nobody here is medically trained!

I see.  I'd still call the doc. Let us know what it turns out to be.

This was before I started the doxy..

I'd suggest you call your MD and report the rash.  It may be a reaction to the doxy.

Never mind the insurance.  Call the MD!
