I just finished watching "Under Our Skin", a documentary about the Lyme epidemic and the wars between IDSA and ILADS. I bought the DVD online at openeyepictures.com. This is a POWERFUL documentary, and a must-see for anyone with Lyme, anyone caring for a Lyme patient, and anyone who THINKS they might have Lyme. You will learn so much about the politics behind the Lyme controversy. Especially enlightening was the demonstrated link between Lyme and such diseases as MS, Lou Gehrig's Disease, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, This researcher McDonald biopsied the brains of ten deceased Alzheimer's patients and in seven out of the ten he found Lyme spirochetes. This is HUGE. McDonald has also just discovered something called a biofilm which is a gel-like substance produced by clusters of spirochetes that serve to render them immune to attack by antibodies and antibiotics. This is also HUGE. This fact alone proves that Lyme can be a chronic disease. The IDSA guidelnes and protocols that are preventing people from getting diagnosed and treated will, I predict, fall like a house of cards. This should happen within a year, I estimate. The IDSA will be seen as a modern-day version of the Flat Earth Society. It may turn out that these other diseases: Alzheimer's, MS, Lou Gehrig's, Parkinson's, are simply other manifestations of Lyme. The film shows one patient who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's and was told he had months to live. He went on antibiotic therapy and he recovered! Fascinating stuff. You want to hiss when they show these IDSA guys spouting the same old tune about there being no such thing as chronic Lyme. Watch this film if you can! -Paul
