I tend to agree with wonko. There's no ONE test that determines LYME . it depends on the amont of time, what you've taken, and co-infections. I know in our office soemtimes they give three tests before they finally determine the LYME bacteria is present. There's some more information on the webiste. www.Lymetesting.com that you might find helpful.
It's confusing for sure.
pat.
Lyme disease is a clinical diagnosis, so you really can't rule it in or out by a blood test that you interpret. You need a good doctor to properly diagnose and treat any condition, Lyme included!
Lyme disease is caused by a specific bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi. Babesosis, Bartonella, and other tick borne diseases are caused by other agents. That is why separate tests are used.
Igenex has an easy-to-find website. The site has a lot of info regarding Lyme testing, the Igenex lab history, the lab licensing, and more. There is also contact info, you could try contacting them directly with your questions and concerns.
Okay i just read this statement from JAckie: Were you tested for tickborne illnesses other than Lyme disease, like babesiosis, bartonella, ehrlichiosis and some others.
