Hi All:

Still have lyme with erlichiosis.  I now show 4 postive bands on my IGG WB (31, 39, 41, 58).  My first test before ABX showed only three positive bands.  My titer from the erlichoisis was 1:80 before ABX and that is down to 20 so that is definitely improving.  He wants me to stay on current meds and is running another Igenex test on the co-infection.  Once that is clear, we will start treating the lyme.

I couple of other changes though and these I am somewhat concerned about.  On my first test before ABX, my CD57 was at 100.  Now it's low at 43.  I don't understand why that number would be going down if the infection is clearing?

Also, my liver enzymes are showing high too (AST is 80 and ALT is 53).  Both should be under 40.

Any thoughts on the CD57 anyone or the liver stuff?  The ABX I'm on shouldn't have any effect on my liver the doctor said...

I will post more later.  I'm off early this morning to work.

Thanks everyone and I look forward to your thoughts.

Carrie

Since you are being treated for Ehrlichiosis first, and CD57 is a Lyme marker, maybe it's not so strange that the disease that you're not yet being treated for is still having an impact?

My doctor advised me that antibiotics can actually suppress the immune system somewhat, so has me on supplements to help build my immune system while on them. Maybe this has an effect on the CD57, I don't know. My CD57 went down too since I started abx. I was just as confused as you because I thought with treatment it should be going up, but I guess it can take a while before this happens. As far as the liver, some abx can elevate liver enzymes as far as I know. Your doc should have you on a supplement to protect your liver. Hope this helps...
