Temperature thing?

by Stephen898, Apr 28, 2009 12:53PM
Ever since I developed Lyme my body temp has been 97.7F. Been that way for 1 -1/2 years. Been on abx,s for 9 months. This weekend it was hot and I was outside quite a bit sweating profusely. I decided to take my  temperature and it was 97.7F. It got as high as 98.1F but that was it. Oddly 98.1F was when i was inside not sweating but generally hot from the air temperature. The other thing I want to throw in is my resting pulse rate is generally around 55bpm - 60bps. I know top athletes have low resting pulse rates. I am in decent shape but not a marathon runner. Is this Lyme on the thyroid or low body temp and resting pulse rate that fall in the low normal range?

My usual temp is in the 96 range, up to 97 when I'm feeling good, but haven't broken 98 since pre-Lyme.  It's my hazy understanding that Lyme bugs hijack the thyroid (among other things) to keep the body chilly, which suits the bugs.  My LLMD has tried to put me on thyroid meds but my stomach can't handle them, so clearly he thinks there's a connection between Lyme and thyroid.

My pulse rate was historically a bit fast, BP low normal, and that hasn't really changed with Lyme.  (I'm no athlete.)  I've had to supplement with magnesium to keep my heart rate steady when my Mg levels drop too far due to Lyme, so your situation and mine seem different in that way.

I have had low body temp for years.  Along with cold hands and feet.  My hands and feet turn blue at times as well.

I read somewhere that the area of the brain that controls body temperature is damaged by neuro  lyme.  I don't know for sure whether this is true or not though.
