Visual symptoms

To all of you with Lyme... I have a question... I have so many symptoms, but I will focus on the visual disturbances. I would lke o know if you hae experienced this too.
I have experienced a dramatic increase in eye floaters. Sperm-like structures seem to swim all over my vision, but its more noticeable when i look at the sky or white walls. Lights seem to bother me, also when a car has lights on during the day it feels like the lights are too strong. At night I see like halos around lights, or starbursts.... sometimes i see little white dots that swim across my vision but they last only a very short amont of time. And what is most frightening is that lights at night seem like balls of fire!!!!! Anyone with these crazy symptoms? especially the bals of fire ones???

cheers

This message thread is about a year and a half old; I don't know how often Gaucho checks in; you might want to send him a private message through this site, or post a new question of your own about eye floaters.

Gaucho 25, I have like almost the same sypmtoms as you, no doc is able to find out what the problem is with the eyes. so I'm speculating if its lyme. So do u have lyme disease?

I get the - wormy/sperm like floaters - [since lyme] - notice there are lots more of them during a 'flare-up'.

I had eye pain when I close my eyes. I do see the white dots floating when I look at some pale colors. I noticed some  blurry vision, floaters. I saw an Opthomologist who is specialised in Lyme.

Yes.  I've had all of that for years.

I have experienced a lot of visual symptoms with my Lyme disease, from sharp eye pain (worse upon movement) to mild double vision, floaters, blurriness (worse upon heat or exhaustion), and bright flashing light in my peripheral vision when I move my eyes side to side.

At times I would see "trails," so if I was holding an object that gives off light (candle, cell phone) and moved it in front of me, I'd see a faint image behind the true object.

I also get what I call my personal Northern Lights, where I see (usually faint) veils of color moving.  I only notice this if it is very dark and I don't always have it.  It looks a bit like the default screen saver on an Apple computer.

I also experience (since my Lyme disease, never before) optical migraines, or migraine aura.  I don't get the pain of a classic migraine, but I get this odd visual symptom.  Do an internet search if you want to see examples of common migraine auras.

I saw an opthamologist while all of this was starting, and my eyes checked out fine.  I also never had lesions show up on my optical nerve on MRI, and I did have a brain MRI around the time when the above symptoms were very active.  No one could explain what was causing this.

I have been in treatment for Lyme for almost a year now, and these visual symptoms have greatly diminished, so I believe the problems were from my Lyme and co-infections.

I agree with the above to keep in contact with an opthamologist about this.

Hmm, no 'balls of fire' in my eyes, but floaters yes.  The floaters come and go, esp in one eye.  My eye doctor is very up to date on Lyme and takes it seriously, so I feel like at least someone is watching over my vision.

Given your recent increase in symptoms, perhaps you should see your eye dr soon?
