What is HERX ?

Can someone explain what Herx is?

'Herx' is short for 'Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction', named after two doctors who described it.  

When medication is killing off the bacteria, the bacteria release 'toxins' -- bad stuff that is irritating to the body.  While the body is processing the toxins and getting rid of them, you sometimes feel lousy.  If your Herxes are too strong, it is not only unpleasant, but can be bad for you, so if you are getting intolerable or what seem unreasonable symptoms, call your doc.

PS it's another reason to stay well hydrated.  Helps wash the gunk out of your body.

My LLMD gave me Himalayan Crystal Salt and I got very sick. My doctor told me it's a Herx reaction and that it's a rarety that someone would have a reaction to it. I didn't ask what a Herx is. I usually ask so many questions and want to know everything so I'm surprised at myself.

I never heard of Himalayan Crystal Salt until my LLMD wanted me to have it. Then a couple days later I saw Dr.Oz on t.v. and he and other doctors were promoting it.

I'd never heard of it till I read your message.  I don't know why it would have triggered a Herx in you, but Lyme affects bodily metabolism in many subtle ways, so perhaps the minerals in the salt triggered something.
