antibiotics for joint pain from lymes disease?? Anyone??

I just went to my Rhuematologist appointment today. I go once every 6 six months. He wants to try something different that he has been reading up on. Its a newer treatment for joint damage and pain from the Lymes disease. He put me on Amoxicillion 500mgs 4 times per day for a month. Research shows in some it helps. Anyone ever tried this course of treatment??

I know my antibiotics are tough on my stomach.  Can you take yours with food?  It was recommended that I take mine with water and half a sandwich to help ease stomach issues.  Also, are you taking any probiotics, like yogurt, acidophilus?  From what I have been t old, the antibiotics also kills good bacteria that we need to replace.  Probiotics helps to do this and may help your recovery.  Check with your Dr first to be sure, I certainly am not a dr and am rather new to this..good luck!

I have been given Doxy for 6 weeks. 2x a day 100 MGs.

I take it on an empty stomach and a full glass of water.

My stomach is upset immediately pretty much but it goes away.

At this time, it has not resolved my symptoms and in fact it gave me night mares I believe -- this medicine.

I got no sleep. My symptoms are fybromyagia like and are persisting. Someone said it's Herx on my other question. Some effect that occurs as bacteria are killed by the antibiotic. If that's what's happening...I'm very glad.

Time will tell.

In the mean time, I'm trying to be patient. It's worth the trouble to try this approach. Ultimately, I may have to live with it all. But I hope someone can help me some day soon.

My grandmother has a bad reaction to opiates and most drugs, she is in a lot of pain and wants to quit. Is there anything out there with very few side effects that she could try? The most recent drug they put her on was interveinious, and she only lasted two days. Please Help if you know something. Thank You!
