burning, stabbing pains today,,,

Morning,
I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. Well, just when I thought I was feeling better awoke this morning with some stabbing and burning in legs, hands.

This really stinks and am very frustrated with my fiance who in my opiniion, just doesn't it get it. Lyme ***** and takes a long time to get over.

what to all/some of you do to deal with the above pain. Until now, it has been one of my least endured pains. It's really painful.

Look forward to everyone's advice/comments. JKV

JackieCalifornia has offered some general advice on the waxing and waning of Lyme that I have found effective.  To paraphrase, hold on to the good days and use the memory of them to get you through the bad.

I'm making big progress with my recovery, but still stumble on those days where my symptoms overwhelm anything else I try to do.  I think of the good days and know that I'm not crazy, nor am I "stuck" like this, I can get better.

If others in your life don't get it, chances are they won't.  I struggled a lot finding the best outlets for support, and it only causes you more pain to try and get it from the wrong source.  There are people who love and care for you who simply won't be able to understand, and I think it's best to accept that, difficult though it may be!

For pain, I have at times used Rx NSAIDs, but never progressed to a point where I needed narcotics.  If your pain is interfering too much with your life, talk to your doc about it.  For me, rest, baths, stretching/exercise, and time in treatment have been the most effective for dealing with most of my symptoms.

I think the burning and stabbing is nerve pain.  I had it really bad for a while.  There are medications for nerve pain that you could talk to your doctor about.  It's hard to treat.

As far as your fiance goes, from my experience no matter how supportive family and loved ones are they will never really get it.  I have a nice husband but the more I talked about how I felt the more stressed out he got.  I finally stopped talking about it and we went back to normal.  I think we might not be married today if I had continued.  I pretty much just act normal and don't say much about it now.

Very few relationships can survive a chronic illness.

wonko @ Patsy10,
thanks for all the good advice. I agree that no matter how supportive our network of loved ones are, they really don't get it. They mean well however. I just try and explain when they want to make all these plans and I due to the lyme, can't go. I'm much better than I was but can't last a long time standing especially at night.

Regarding the burning etc, It's not to the point I need pain meds because it comes and goes like the other symptoms.

Patsy,
I'll try and take your advice and not mention the lyme if possible. It might work, we'll see.

I'm the most frustrated with the fact that I can't eat many things let alone have a glass of wine. I admit I do cheat. However looking forward to the day that I can eat what I want and have a glass or two and not worry how it will affect the lyme.

Thanks again, JKV
