eye involvement with lyme

by winfree, Feb 10, 2008 03:22PM
Recent diagnosis of slight uveitis. Have been very ill with late disseminated, LD in nervous system. Diagnosed 3.5 years after illness began. Treated one year with oral antibiotics, mild improvement. Five months of IV infusion of Ceftiaxone has brought improvements (not well yet) over past year following ending of treatment. Am terrified of uveitis since it can be complication of lyme. Doctors here in Anchorage not very lyme literate.
What should I pay attention to with the eye? Are there good treatments now to prevent loss of sight? What dr. speciality should I try for management? Where are there good sources (not brief) about this eye complication, things to consider in further diagnosis, and treatment. Thank you, Sandy in AK
