hyperthyroid?

Has anyone ever found that chronic lyme can cause HYPERthroidism?  I thought my thryroid levels would come back as hypothyroid since I can't seem to lose weight no matter how much I diet and exercise but instead they came back elevated. Is this just another lyme side effect?

I have lyme's and hyper thyroid. I don't know why but it seems very rare. I have lost a lot of weight. it also seems like that hashie moto or however you spell it? my doctors don't seem to care or even really give a rats ***. I used to be 5'6'' 220 lbs working out quite a bit , quite a few supplements but now having suffered through pancreatitus,diverticulitus,and lots of aching joints im now skinny fat. ha ha, I crave a lot of ice cream . I believe its something to do with calcium. so let me now if anything comes up and stay strong. sincerely Christopher R.

I've also read that thyroid levels can fluctuate as the thyroid begins to fail.  There is a great thyroid community on MedHelp:

I'm sure you could post there about hypo symptoms and hyper labs, they might have some ideas for you.

Welcome.  I am only familiar with the hypo aspect but I'm sure it is quite possible to have the opposite effect.
