Has anyone ever used plaquenil for lyme treatment?

Yes.

It can have some serious side effects affecting your vision, be sure to ask your doctor about it.

I would also suggest "titrating" the dose, or starting small and working your way up, but that's also something to discuss with your doc.

I tried it in the spring but couldn't tolerate it at that time.  I was on it for about a month starting around May, and Herxed non-stop (like, missed a week at a time of work, barely leaving the house for a month) and had to stop.  I recently resumed and since improving from other meds, I can now tolerate plaq, though I'm taking a low dose.

It is an anti-malarial but also has some effects on the immune system and is used in the management of other diseases such as lupus.  That's about all I know!
